Hateno Village: Unmasking the Real Boss (It’s Not Who You Think)
Welcome to Hateno Village. You might be charmed by its unique architecture. It is easy to lose track of time here. But questions linger. Who runs this place? Is it stressed-out Mayor Reede? Or is it the fashionable Cece? Let’s explore Hateno’s true power dynamics.
Leadership in Hateno: Mayor May Not
As you arrive in Hateno, you’ll catch the buzz about the mayoral election. It’s the topic everyone discusses. Two figures dominate the scene: Reede and Cece. Reede, the mayor, seems like an ideal choice. He has the title and the house. But hold on, Cece also has her influence.
This election saga is not about raw power. After all the buzzing campaigning, Reede keeps his role as mayor. Surprise! He and Cece decide to work together. Instead of competing, they unite to support Hateno Village. It’s a refreshing approach in politics. Leadership here is a partnership, not a solo act.
Reede’s home, the Village Head’s House, is ordinary on the outside. Yet, it’s close to the Dye Shop. Even village leaders care about appearances. For adventurers, it’s also near the Goddess Statue. To navigate Hateno, aim for the Dye Shop and turn left. The grand house will be obvious; it has a divine lady out front.
Meet the Residents: More Than Just NPCs
Hateno hosts a quirky array of characters. These residents enhance village life. Let’s meet some of them.
First, there’s Karin, Reede’s daughter. She lives with Reede and Clavia in the mayoral mansion. Karin brings youthful energy to Hateno. She claims to have seen Purah. Is it imagination or truth? She may have more insight than one expects.
Next is Clavia, Reede’s wife. She often roams Hateno, looking worried about Reede. Being a mayor’s spouse isn’t easy. Finding Clavia is simple; just look for someone who seems anxious about village issues or daily chores.
For color, we have Sayge, owner of Kochi Dye Shop. Sayge lives at the shop with his family. Talk about dedication! He works tirelessly, often seen in his beloved shop. His family sleeps nearby, with bunk beds set up to avoid the dye fumes. Is he run by fumes? It remains one of Hateno’s mysteries.
Don’t forget Bolson and Karson. They are Bolson Construction. They make their entrance by demolishing an old house. Yet, they can transform ruins into cozy homes. Complete the “Hylian Homeowner” quest, and their talent shines. Once done in Hateno, you can send them to Tarrey Town for more work.
Hateno also has a special white dog. This dog can sniff out treasures. Feed it some meat, and it will lead you to buried riches. You may uncover a Silver Rupee. Not a bad return for simple kindness.
Lastly, for something different, there’s Kilton. This monster-part merchant operates near Zelkoa Pond and Pico Pond. Kilton offers bizarre masks and monster gear. If you seek unusual items, he is your man.
The Abandoned House: From Eyesore to Dream Home
Remember the house Bolson was demolishing? It’s not going to wrecking ball land just yet. Interestingly, Link can purchase this house from Bolson instead. The cost? 50,000 rupees. Think of it as prime real estate in Hateno.
Upon buying the property, the “Hylian Homeowner” quest begins. The process involves upgrades too, which cost rupees as well. To make your Hateno pad cozy, prepare to spend an extra 1,400 rupees on improvements. But what price for a home sweet home?
Goddess Statue in Hateno: Divine Intervention (Optional)
Need some divine blessings? Hateno has a Goddess Statue for that very purpose. Finding it is simple. Remember that grand house? The statue is alongside it, so no need for a treasure map. If lost, it’s next to the Dye Shop on the left side.
The Heart Glitch: Exploit or Economic Opportunity?
Let’s explore something unconventional: Hateno is home to a “heart glitch.” Near the village’s entrance lies the Horned Statue. This statue offers questionable services.
It lets you sell heart containers for rupees. Seems odd, right? You can buy them back too but at a higher cost. Essentially you’re losing rupees for unclear benefits. The mechanics bring debate but highlight unusual economics here.
The Cursed Statue Quest: Spooky Statues and Shrine Shenanigans
Looking for mystery? Hateno offers a “Cursed Statue Quest.” To start, visit Kam Urog shrine located north and west of Hateno Tower. Seek out small statues hidden among cliffs for an eerie experience.
The quest involves a cursed statue and plenty of puzzles. Expect to solve challenges and enjoy spooky vibes. It offers a break from monster-slaying adventures.
So who holds power in Hateno Village? The answer isn’t clear-cut. Leadership is collaborative with Reede and Cece directing affairs. The intriguing cast of residents contributes as well, while ancient statues and glitches play roles too. Hateno thrives through a quirky loving community keeping things interesting.
