Listen up, wizard friends! You found the right spot if you need help with Wizard101. Skip the fancy guides. We get to the real stuff for your journey through the Spiral. This is your straightforward guide to the game mechanics that may leave you puzzled, like a Cyclops in a library.
Changing Schools? Think Again!
Chosen a school and feeling regret? Fire seemed great until you saw everything is fire-resistant. Maybe Life isn’t for healers if it leads to boredom. Tough break! Once you pick a school, you can’t change it. It’s like picking ice cream forever, so choose wisely.
But wait! Don’t panic just yet! KingsIsle offers a way out. If you’re set to change from your current school, just create a new wizard. Yes, indeed! Click the “new” button at your character screen. You can make a new character in a different school. Start fresh and consider your options before taking the plunge into Ice spells when you crave Storm’s chaos.
Character Customization: Mirror, Mirror
Feeling dull? Character looking plain? You can change your wizard’s look in Wizard101. Want a fresh look? Let’s discuss the Magic Mirror – your hub for vanity.
Gender Change? Name Change Needed!
Feeling a bit off about your gender in-game? Want to switch from a guy to a girl or the opposite? Wizard101 allows that, with a twist. You can’t change gender easily. Changing gender also needs a name change. The game forces you to say, “New body, new name.” Brainstorm new names if you’re up for a total makeover.
To change, go to the Shopping District. There, you will spot the Magic Mirror among the bustling shops. Click “Change Name or Gender” in the top right of the menu to unlock a new identity. Customization becomes easier, but be ready to abandon your old name.
Appearance Changes: More Than Just Basics
If you’ve got the right gender but need some adjustments, the Magic Mirror is still for you. It goes beyond swapping genders. Just visit the Magic Mirror in the Shopping District. It’s calling for you to unleash your inner stylist.
What can you change? The Mirror lets you customize designs, from eye color to hairstyles and more. Want green eyes instead of blue? Done. Switch from a bob haircut to something wild? Go ahead. Feel colorful? Choose face paint that shouts, “I’m a wizard!” There are many options to keep you entertained.
Training Points: Use Wisely, Grasshopper
Training Points are magical nuggets for dabbling in different schools. But what if you made poor choices? Let’s discuss training points carefully.
Resetting Training Points: Mr. Lincoln’s Help (and Wallet Pain)
Regret those Death spells as a Life wizard? Wish you hadn’t spent points on Ice shields as a Fire mage? Don’t worry. There is a way to fix your training point mistakes. Visit Mr. Lincoln in Golem Court. He’ll take your Crowns for a reset of points.
The cost in Crowns depends on how many training points you spent. The more spells collected, the higher the cost to start over. Next time you’re tempted by random spells, keep Mr. Lincoln in mind and think things through.
Reshuffle Spell: Thanks Mildred Farseer!
Let’s look at a helpful spell: Reshuffle. Running out of cards during a battle? Reshuffle is key. You owe a thanks to Mildred Farseer in Colossus Boulevard.
To find her, go to Colossus Boulevard and check the first plaza leading to her building. She will teach reshuffle if you’re level 20 with a training point. Yes, you need to be level 20 and have a training point. It’s worth it; reshuffle acts as an “undo” for your deck.
Earning Training Points: Level Up!
Wondering how to get these training points? They don’t come easy (though that’d be great). Just quest to earn training points. Reaching level 170 is key. From levels 1 through 20, earn one every four levels. You should have five by level 20. Level up and finish quests; points will come gradually.
Refunding Training Points: All or Nothing!
Thinking about buying back one errant training point? Sorry! You can’t buy back specific points. When visiting Mr. Lincoln, it’s all or nothing. Refund all training points together and return spells linked to them. If you just regret one choice, living with it may be best.
Character Transfer: Move Your Wizard!
Ever want to transfer a wizard to another account? Maybe need consolidation or sharing with a generous friend? Wizard101 offers a Character Transfer Feature. To transfer, verify your wizard and click transfer. Your Storm Wizard moves to your Fire account! Just ensure you want that change before clicking; there’s no undo.
Trading: Sharing is Caring (Sometimes)
Need gear for your other wizard? Want to share reagents with a friend? Trading has plenty of rules, oh yes. Let’s break it down.
Trading Items: Shared Bank Access
Want items between your wizards? The Shared Bank helps with that. Go to your Bank in your castle or dorm room and see the Shared Bank tab. This lets players exchange items from their account, not across different ones. If you want gear for your low-level wizard…
The Shared Bank is the best option. You can find it in your Dorm room or Castle. No need to walk far across the Spiral to swap a wand.
Tradeable Treasures: The Good Stuff
You can put many items into the Shared Bank or trade with friends. This includes Reagents, pet snacks, clothing items, pets, seeds, wands, amulets, rings, athames, and more. Much of your inventory is available for trading. Collect those pet snacks and share!
Non-Tradeable Naughties: Hands Off!
However, not every item is tradable. Some are marked with “No Trade”. These are the restricted items in the Spiral trade. Just a note: since May 2010, enchanted treasure cards cannot be traded. Those fancy cards are for you only, wizard.
Trading with Other Players: Treasure Card Tango
To trade with another player, only Non-Enchanted Treasure Cards can be exchanged. That’s all. If you wish to swap a cool wand, forget it. Treasure cards are what you need for trades between players.
Housing: Home Sweet (Magical) Home(s)
Do you dream of a magical mansion? Wizard101 allows you to own multiple homes. Let’s discuss houses.
Number of Houses: Three is the Magic Number (Plus a Dorm)
You can have three houses and a dorm in Wizard101. That’s four homes! But there’s a rule: you can’t own more than one type of any house. No grabbing several versions of the same spooky castle. Variety matters in the magical realm.
Dorm Room: Your Starter Shack
Every Wizard gets a Dorm Room with a limit of 50 items. It’s basic, free, and immediately yours. Think of it as your wizard starter pad. It’s ideal for storing early-game items and dreaming of that future mansion.
Additional Castle Elixir: House Expansion Pack
Want more than three houses? You can for a price. An Additional Castle Elixir lets you own one more house. One elixir equals one more castle space. If you’re a serious property tycoon in the Spiral, these elixirs will help you rule.
Bric-a-break elixirs: Item Limit Busters
Out of space for your magical items? Bric-a-break elixirs cost 995 crowns each. They expand your housing limit by 50 up to a maximum of 400 items per area. Yes, they cost crowns and only add 50 slots at a time. But if you love decorating, they’re your way to an overflowing magical stash.
Dungeons: Deep Dive and Dungeon Do-Overs
Dungeons are key to adventure. But what if you struggle? How do you replay them for loot?
Returning to a Dungeon: Second Chances
Defeated in a dungeon? Teleported out and feel bad? Don’t worry! If you get out alone, you can return directly to the start. No long walks through grumpy monsters. Just a quick recall, and you’re ready for round two.
Resetting Dungeons: The Re-Run Routine
Want to replay a dungeon for loot? Resetting is simple. Go in, then leave via the same entrance (the ladder). The game will warn you about leaving. Ignore it, and the dungeon resets when you enter again. Simple! Reset and farm until your inventory is full of loot or you’re bored.
Dungeon Cards: The Mysterious Minions
Dungeon cards are odd cards that show up in dungeons. They are not permanent. They cannot be cast or leave the command zone during the game. They’re temporary and not really useful. Don’t worry about them too much.
Quests: Stuck in Quest Purgatory?
Is your quest journal cluttered? Want to ditch an annoying quest? Sorry. You can’t remove a quest unless you complete it. No abandoning in Wizard101. Accepted quests mean you’re stuck with them. Choose wisely, or face a long quest log.
Account Limitations: One Wizard at a Time, Please
Thinking of using two wizards in one account? Not possible. You can never log in two characters on one account at the same time. Wizard101 allows one wizard per account. If you want to play multiple wizards at once, you need extra accounts. Or maybe take a break and get fresh air instead of grinding more.
Now you know it, wizards! This guide covers tricky mechanics in Wizard101. Go forth armed with knowledge, and conquer the Spiral…or reset that dungeon again!
