Unearthing Geo’s Secrets: A Traveler’s Guide to Crushing Crystals (and Geo Enemies) in Genshin Impact

Let’s discuss Geo. It represents rocks, shields, and occasionally dropping meteors on unsuspecting Hilichurls. It stands out in the Genshin Impact elemental list. Unlike Pyro burning grass or Hydro drenching foes, Geo has its own set of rules. What are these rules? Strap in, adventurer, we will explore Geo’s core and discover how to dismantle it.

Geo’s Elemental Identity Crisis: Not Weak, Not Strong, Just… Geo

First twist: Geo doesn’t follow the usual elemental weakness rules. Forget charts showing Fire beats Cryo beats Hydro beats Pyro. Geo just exists in its own bubble. Think of it as a calm friend who ignores drama. Hitting a Geo slime with Pyro won’t set it ablaze. Also, drenching a Geo Hypostasis in Hydro won’t cause rust. Battling Geo foes feels like facing a Physical-resistant enemy instead of exploiting elemental weaknesses. They are solid, grounded, and mainly throw rocks.

Geo vs. Geo: The Civil War of Crystals

Things become fascinating when Geo faces Geo. Picture two crystal titans colliding. It creates a sparkly mess. To dismantle Geo constructs and shields, use more Geo! It’s like fighting fire with fire, but here, it’s earth. Characters wielding powerful Geo skills are crucial. Noelle with an activated Burst spins like a Geo-destroying Beyblade. Ningguang hurls Jade projectiles at structures. They swiftly deal with Geo shields. For deeper insights, check out guides like “Genshin Impact: A guide to the seven elements and their reactions” to learn Geo’s role in the elemental system.

Blunt Force Trauma: Claymores and the Art of Rock-Breaking

Besides Geo damage, blunt force works well against Geo structures. This is where Claymore users excel. Those massive weapons are perfect for crushing Geo constructs into debris. Remember those annoying Geo pillars? Two swings from a Claymore user, and they’ll fall apart like your patience in a Spiral Abyss. Think geological demolition. Sometimes, brute power gets the job done. Certain Catalyst Charged Attacks work too, contributing to breaking Geo and adding versatility.

Overload: The Explosive Solution to Geo Shields

Let’s discuss explosions! The Overload reaction is the explosive blend of Pyro and Electro. It sends smaller foes flying everywhere, sometimes annoyingly. However, Overload can break Geo shields effectively. Many players underestimate this. Triggering Overload near a Geo shield can dissolve it faster than expected. If you’re facing a Fatui Skirmisher Geochanter Bracer with his annoying shield, bring a Pyro and an Electro character for fiery electricity. Consider it like using a jackhammer on a stone wall—messy but effective.

Enemy Spotlight: Geo Hypostasis and Geovishaps – When Rocks Get Tricky

Genshin Impact loves challenges. So enters the Geo Hypostasis, a cube of pure Geo energy. This boss resists Geo attacks and is highly resistant to Physical damage. Leave your Claymore-wielding Geo characters for this battle at home. You must use elemental reactions to reduce its health instead. Pyro and Electro work particularly well when its core is exposed, especially when melee is not an option. Use elemental tools for bypassing its defenses.

Next, we have Geovishaps, ancient dragon-like beings causing geological chaos. These creatures have a robust 50% Geo resistance across the board. A full Geo team is like bringing a pickaxe to a tank battle—not a good choice. Train characters of other elements to exploit their non-Geo weaknesses. Focus on Primo Geovishap by learning its attack patterns and using elemental shields or matching shields to counter its “Primordial Shower” assault. Attack during its vulnerable phases.

Geo’s Rock Star Lineup: Characters Who Crush Crystals

Want some names for your Geo-busting team? Look for Zhongli, the Geo Archon. His Stone Stele resonance and Dominus Lapidis skill quickly dismantle structures. Noelle, as mentioned, becomes a shield-breaking powerhouse with her Burst. Don’t forget Navia, President of Spina di Rosula. Her Claymore attacks and excellent off-field Geo damage may make her the fastest shield destroyer currently. These characters are your top choices for dealing with Geo-heavy foes.

Crystallize: Geo’s Signature (and Only) Reaction

Now, let’s clarify Geo’s reaction status. Unlike other elements producing massive damage via chaining reactions, Geo offers one reaction: Crystallize. When Geo interacts with Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro, it forms Crystallize shards. Collecting these shards grants a corresponding element shield. The strength matches the Geo character’s Elemental Mastery. While Geo may not produce high reaction damage, it offers consistent defense, vital in harder fights. It’s strategic defense instead of explosive offensive.

Anemo and Geo: A Breeze Through the Crystals (or Not)

Lastly, a note on Anemo and Geo: they don’t react. Anemo’s Swirl needs an earlier elemental aura (Hydro, Pyro, Electro, or Cryo) to activate. Since Geo applies no such aura, Anemo simply passes through without a reaction. Expect no Swirl effects when mixing Anemo and Geo. They are like ships passing in the night, elementally.

There you have it—the not-so-weaknesses of Geo in Genshin Impact. It’s not about exploiting typical weaknesses but about engaging Geo’s unique properties. Whether smashing with Claymores, exploding with Overload, or countering other Geo users, you have choices for handling those rocks. Go forth, Traveler, and shatter those crystals!
