Gaming is amazing, isn’t it? You dive into these sprawling worlds, epic narratives unfold, and then… you get completely lost on how to even start the darn quest. It’s like the game itself has forgotten to tell you the most important part. Fear not, fellow adventurers! We’ve all been there, staring blankly at the screen, wondering “Okay, game, what now?”. Today, we’re diving deep into the murky waters of “Forgotten” and “Missing” quests across a bunch of games, giving you the cheat sheet on how to kick them off. No more wandering aimlessly – let’s get questing!

I. Mr. Forgetful in Genshin Impact

Ever met someone more forgetful than you after a particularly rough Monday? Genshin Impact introduces us to Mr. Forgetful, aptly named, in a World Quest on Tsurumi Island, Inazuma. To even begin helping this amnesiac, you’ve got to first wrap up the “Octave of the Maushiro” World Quest, which is part of the “Through the Mists” series. Think of it as clearing the fog before you can even see the forgetful fellow. Once you’ve done that, patience is your friend. You need to wait for the daily reset. Yes, the game wants you to literally sleep on it. After the reset, Mr. Forgetful and his quest should be ready for you to stumble upon. Just try not to forget where Tsurumi Island is in the meantime.

II. The Forgotten Saga in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Valhalla’s “The Forgotten Saga” DLC sounds like a questline about finding your car keys on a busy morning, but it’s actually way cooler. Want to dive into this forgotten lore? You’ll need to trigger the “A Gift from the Otherworld” quest first. Luckily, it’s not hidden behind some cryptic puzzle. Simply upgrade your settlement, Ravensthorpe, to level 3. Think of it as leveling up your Viking village from “quaint” to “slightly less quaint.” Then, build the Seer’s Hut. Seers are always good for kicking off weird and wonderful adventures, right? Build that hut, and you’re on your way to accessing “The Forgotten Saga”. For more details on accessing this saga, Ubisoft has a helpful guide ready for you.

III. Unlocking The Forgotten in The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Binding of Isaac is known for being… well, delightfully weird and challenging. Unlocking The Forgotten character is no exception. Forget about quests in the traditional sense; this is Isaac. You need Mom’s Shovel. Sounds simple? Hold your horses. While holding Mom’s Shovel, you need to stand on the Dirt Patch. Which dirt patch, you ask? The one that mysteriously appears in the starting room after you defeat the first boss while holding the shovel. It’s like a bizarre treasure hunt in your own basement. Successfully shovel that dirt and you’ll unearth The Forgotten. Prepare for some seriously strange runs.

IV. Venturing into The Forgotten Lands in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Even Disney Dreamlight Valley has its shadowy corners. To unlock The Forgotten Lands, you’re going to need some serious Dreamlight – 15,000 of it to be precise. Think of Dreamlight as magical elbow grease. You’ll be using it to clear the Giant Night Thorns that are stubbornly blocking your path. It’s like the game is saying, “Are you sure you REALLY want to go there?”. Once you’ve cleared those thorny nuisances and unlocked the biome, you’re not done yet. You then need to complete “The Remembered” quest. This quest unlocks the Fairy Godmother, who, despite her generally helpful nature, is somehow tied to these forgotten lands and her own story quests. So, get ready to spend some Dreamlight and cozy up to a Fairy Godmother with a potentially dark past.

V. Exploring The Forgotten City in Skyrim

Skyrim, the land of dragons, shouts, and… forgotten cities. To stumble into “The Forgotten City” quest, you’ve got a couple of options. The first is simply being adventurous. If your Dragonborn is at least level five, the quest might just auto-start. Skyrim likes to keep things spontaneous. Alternatively, if you prefer a more direct approach, head to the Forgotten Ruins. These are conveniently located in the far south-west corner of Skyrim. Just wander in, and chances are, the quest will kick off, because who can resist a good set of forgotten ruins in Skyrim?

VI. Surviving The Forgotten Seasons in Skyrim Anniversary Edition

Skyrim’s Anniversary Edition threw in a whole heap of new content, including “The Forgotten Seasons” quest. How do you start this chilly adventure? Well, the game kind of just points you towards a rather lengthy dungeon. Yes, that’s the starting point. No hand-holding here; just a massive dungeon waiting to be explored. So, grab your warmest furs, sharpen your sword, and prepare for a potentially long and cold delve into the forgotten seasons. Sometimes, Skyrim’s starting instructions are as subtle as a dragon in a china shop.

VII. Delving into The Forgotten Sanctum in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire’s “The Forgotten Sanctum” DLC is for those who like their RPGs deep and lore-rich. First things first, make sure the DLC is actually installed. Sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised. Check the Main Menu; it should proudly declare “The Forgotten Sanctum” as installed. Then, you need to have progressed a bit in the main game. Specifically, you need to have either completed “Magran’s Teeth” or “Mapping the Archipelago: Tikawara”. Consider these your gateway quests. Finish one of those, and you’ll be primed to start your forgotten sanctum adventure. Need more help? Obsidian Entertainment has a handy guide on starting “The Forgotten Sanctum” DLC.

VIII. Unraveling Forgotten Names in Skyrim (Again!)

Skyrim just loves its forgotten quests, doesn’t it? “Forgotten Names” is another one, and this time it’s tied to the creepy hand you might have noticed in The Midden, under the College of Winterhold. To even get close to this quest, you first need access to the College of Winterhold itself. That means proving you’re at least somewhat magically inclined to get past the gatekeepers. Once you’re in the College, and brave enough to venture into The Midden, you might just stumble upon the start of “Forgotten Names”. Just try not to lose your own name down there in the dark. For a more detailed walkthrough on solving the Midden Hand puzzle, GameRant offers a helpful guide.

IX. Remembering A Night to Remember in Skyrim

“A Night to Remember” in Skyrim is a Daedric Quest, and it’s known for being… well, memorable. To kick off this drunken escapade, you need to be at least level 14. The game is age-gating your virtual drinking habits. Once you’re of age, head to Whiterun or any inn in a hold. These taverns are basically quest magnets in Skyrim. Look for a mysterious fellow named Sam Guevenne. He’s usually propping up the bar, ready to challenge you to a drinking contest. Accept his challenge, and you’re in for a night (or several) you might only vaguely remember. The quest itself involves a hilarious series of increasingly ridiculous mishaps that stem from this drinking contest.

X. Finding the Missing Miner in FFXIV

Final Fantasy XIV Online has quests aplenty, and “Missing Miner” is an early one for aspiring miners. To start this quest, you need to head to Ul’dah – Steps of Thal. Specifically, look around the coordinates X: 11.3, Y: 14.3. There, you’ll find Linette, an NPC with a miner-related problem. The good news? The only real prerequisite is that you need to have at least one class or job at level one. So, if you’ve barely started the game, you’re good to go. Linette and her missing miner are waiting in Ul’dah to get your mining career off the ground.

XI. Unlocking Memory’s Final Chapter in Genshin Impact (Again!)

Genshin Impact returns with another memory-themed quest: “Memory’s Final Chapter”. To trigger this poignant-sounding quest, teleport to the waypoint at Mawtiyima Forest. Once you’re there, channel your inner adventurer and glide eastward. Follow the on-screen guidance – even games know sometimes you just need a little direction. Keep gliding until you encounter an Aranara. These little forest spirits are often key to unlocking Sumeru’s mysteries. Chat with the Aranara, and “Memory’s Final Chapter” should begin. Hopefully, this memory won’t be as easily forgotten as Mr. Forgetful’s.

XII. Tracing the Missing Link in Fallout 76

Fallout 76, the online wasteland wanderer, has “Missing Link,” part of the Raider questline. To get started, you need to brave the wilds and reach the Top of the World. It’s located smack-dab in the center of the map, so pretty hard to miss if you’re aiming for the middle of nowhere. Once you’re at the Top of the World, seek out Rose. This isn’t your average wasteland flower; Rose is a… unique individual who will set you on your Raider path. However, talking to Rose isn’t the only step. You also need to complete a few prerequisite quests: “Signal Strength”, “Flavors of Mayhem”, and “Key to the Past”. Think of them as your Raider initiation. Finish those, and “Missing Link” will be ready to forge.

XIII. Actually Experiencing A Night to Remember in Skyrim (Again, Again!)

Yes, Skyrim’s “A Night to Remember” is so memorable (or not, depending on your character’s constitution) it deserves a second entry. We already covered how to start it, but what about actually activating the quest once it begins? Well, buckle up, because it’s a bit of a wild ride. First, you participate in that drinking contest with Sam Guevenne we mentioned earlier. That’s the catalyst for everything going sideways. Then, you actually have to find Sam Guevenne. He tends to wander off after a few too many tankards. Next, you need to locate a staff. Because why not involve magical staves in a drunken quest? Things might get messy at the Temple of Dibella. If you weren’t charming or rich enough to smooth things over with the priestess, you’ll have to help clean up. And finally, if things went really south with the priestess, you might need to offer an apology. It’s a quest that covers the full spectrum of drunken regret and surprisingly, Daedric intrigue. So, there you have it! A treasure trove of “Forgotten” and “Missing” quests, and precisely how to stumble into them. Now go forth, and get questing – and maybe set a reminder so you don’t forget where you left off. Happy gaming!
