As Twilight continues with the wedding preparations, she further distrusts Cadance who criticizes every aspect of her friends’ planning. This suspicion culminates when Twilight finds herself in the dark, long-forgotten crystal caves beneath Canterlot. Here, an image of Cadance taunts her, stating that the marriage will continue without her interference. Enraged, Twilight attacks this second Cadance, who reveals herself to be the real Cadance by reciting a shared rhyme from their past.
When Twilight and the real Cadance escape to stop the wedding, they expose the deception just before the ceremony is completed.
At this moment, the fake Cadance reveals her true identity as Queen Chrysalis, the ruler of the shape-shifting, insect-like Changelings who feed on love.
