Unlock Dark Souls 3’s Undead Matches: A Champion’s Bones Guide
You have conquered Lothric. Think you are hot stuff, Ashen One? Dark Souls 3 has a challenge for you. This time, face players in Undead Matches. It tests skill, strategy, and Estus Flasks. To enter this PvP arena, you need to burn some bones. Specifically, Champion’s Bones.
What’s the Deal with Burning Bones Anyway?
In Dark Souls, burning items at bonfires leads to good outcomes. Mostly. In this case, burning Champion’s Bones at Firelink Shrine unlocks Undead Matches. It is like paying the entry fee for the brutal fight club. Once you burn the bones, you can queue for online PvP matches. You can even fiddle with the settings. Want a duel? Team battle? A chaotic free-for-all? The choice is yours.
Champion’s Bones: Where to Snag These Bony Goodies
So, burning bones matters. But where do you find these Champion’s Bones? They do not grow on trees or drop from hollow soldiers. To snag these treasures, venture into the Painted World of Ariandel, specifically the Ashes of Ariandel DLC. You must fight a persistent individual known as the Champion’s Gravetender.
The Champion’s Gravetender is your gatekeeper to PvP glory. He does not hand out free passes. This boss lurks in the Depths of the Painting. To reach him, navigate through snowy landscapes and find a rope bridge. Instead of crossing it, do what any Dark Souls player would: cut down the bridge. It transforms into a ladder leading to the arena.
Facing the Champion’s Gravetender: A Bone-ified Boss Battle
This Champion’s Gravetender is an optional boss in the Ashes of Ariandel DLC. Optional, yes, but for PvP fans, he’s mandatory. Do not underestimate him just because he’s optional. He has a few tricks and is not alone. Expect to face him and his furry companion. It’s a tag team, and you are outnumbered.
But fear not! Victory grants rich rewards. Defeating this duo yields shiny drops. Most importantly, they drop Champion’s Bones. As a bonus, they also drop the Valorheart, a stylish sword and shield set. Even if PvP is not your interest, defeating the Gravetender is worth it for the loot.
Undead Matches: Enter the Arena, Ashen One!
With Champion’s Bones in hand, head back to Firelink Shrine. Approach the bonfire—the one you’ve used many times—select “Burn Undead Bone Shard… wait, not that one. Choose “Burn Champion’s Bones.” After this fiery ritual, a new option appears: Undead Match.
Click it to enter Dark Souls 3 PvP. Undead Matches offer various game modes for competition. Engage in team battles where cooperation is vital, or dive into chaotic free-for-alls. Matches can host two to six players, ensuring unpredictability. Whether you prefer strategic team play or solo combat against multiple foes, Undead Matches cater to all aspiring PvP champions. So go forth, burn those bones, and prove your mettle in the arena. Just avoid pointing down too much, alright?
