What Caused the Immortality Bug in Valorant’s Latest Patch?
In the latest patch of Valorant, a rare bug that left players unable to move or process inputs until they died has been addressed. Specifically, this occurred when players were entering or returning from Astra’s astral form, Sova’s drone, Skye’s scout, or Cypher’s Spy Camera.
Moreover, several causes of this bug were previously addressed in the last patch, and this fix should resolve the remaining known causes.
However, there have been reports indicating that the entire system is borked. Notably, the download system is improperly loading and unloading guns, resulting in multiple loads of a single weapon.
Additionally, fixed issues include:
- Displaying the wrong Immortal icon in certain locations
- Various localization issues that hindered text readability in End
- Viper’s Toxic Screen displaying small gaps around ground level in specific map locations
Players have expressed that their peak rank this last act was Immortal 1, with no games lost, suggesting they never deranked. However, it appears that the bug may only affect how players are displayed, making them appear as Radiant without actually placing them in Radiant game lobbies.
Lastly, it is noted that the development team is aware of a new bug related to ranked play.

Is KAY/O’s Resurrection Mechanism Behind the Recent Gameplay Issues?
The KAY/O knife bug has significantly impacted the outcome of professional VALORANT tournaments, including the VCT last season. Consequently, multiple professionals voiced their frustration on Twitter, calling for a hotfix.
Currently, Patch 6.02 has been released, focusing on various bug fixes, including:
- Networking bug fixes
- Agent bug fixes
- Voice chat fixes
- Stinger nerfs
Moreover, a potentially fixed bug regarding KAY/O’s Zero/point (E) not showing the correct enemies that it has suppressed has been addressed. However, several VALORANT players have also pointed out a game-breaking KAY/O bug likely caused by his ultimate.
The NULL/cmd ultimate appears to be the culprit, granting KAY/O a significant health boost of up to 800 health. Notably, this ultimate allows him to be knocked down after taking fatal damage, but allies can still revive him while he’s incapacitated.
However, it seems the bug allows KAY/O to receive a massive health boost after he takes fatal damage without initiating the knockdown animation. This issue is particularly problematic since the robot is making its competitive debut in VCT Korea, which could pose significant challenges for the pro scene moving forward.
If this bug continues to adversely affect competitive matchmaking, Riot will likely disable KAY/O until a hotfix is implemented.
Indeed, KAY/O’s bug has created a situation where he is incredibly difficult to kill. Clips have shown KAY/O’s ultimate activating even after he has been dealt a fatal blow. Instead of entering a downed state, KAY/O remains standing for a short moment, locked in a hit stun animation, thus able to continue fighting.
Additionally, several bug fixes have been introduced, such as:
- A fix to KAY/O’s ZERO/point reporting inaccurate information
- A fixed bug where Yoru could revive KAY/O while using ‘Spatial Drift’ with the active ‘NULL/cmd’ ability
To address the relevant issues related to the newly added agent, a hotfix update sized at approximately 140 megabytes has been released. The current 8.04 PBE will run until Monday, March 4, 2024, at 11 am PT.
