In my Heroes 5 manual p. 14 : “To split a stack, hold the shift key, click on the stack you wish to split, and drag it to the destination slot.”
particularly, How do you split troops in Heroes 2?
It’s been answered, but: hold Shift and click. In Heroes III, there’s a button to push; you don’t need to hold Shift (but it does work). In Heroes II, there’s no “divide army” button; the Shift trick is in the manual.
