Thicket Excavations: More Than Just a Hole in the Ground
Wandering the Commonwealth? You might face mirelurks or super mutants. Maybe you’re searching for screws. Let’s talk about a place to find: Thicket Excavations.
Think of it as a neighborhood quarry. Your friends are complicated. This spot lies in the Northwestern Commonwealth. Head east from Concord and the Museum of Freedom. Look for a road. It’s not hidden, but in the wasteland, ‘obvious’ is relative.
Sully’s Plumbing Problem: When Fixing Things Goes Hilariously Wrong
Thicket Excavations has a story. It involves Sully Mathis. He tried to fix the quarry’s machinery.
Spoiler: it didn’t go well. Sully flooded the whole place. Classic Sully. Now, you, the adventurer, step in.
You’ll fix Sully’s mistake. Dive into murky, irradiated water to repair underwater pipes. It’s no relaxing swim. Think of it as a radioactive swamp tour. You’ll soak up about 10 rads per second while playing plumber.
How to find these pesky pipes? Look for bubbles on the water’s surface. It’s a morbid game of ‘Whack-a-Mole’ with irradiated water. Once you spot them, take a deep breath (figuratively). Dive down.
Each pipe needs some persuasion. Fortunately, ‘persuasion’ means turning a yellow valve. They thought about player convenience when designing post-apocalyptic infrastructure.
Raider Resort: From Quarry to Criminal Condo
You fixed the pipes and saved Thicket Excavations. You might earn a pat on the back (or a sarcastic comment). Quest complete, right? Wrong.
Wait for 24 hours. Do something else. Craft adhesive, clear a raider camp, or watch wasteland sunsets. Return to Thicket Excavations for a surprise.
Remember Sully? Fixing the pipes wasn’t the end for him. He became the ringleader of raiders. Guess where they set up shop? The newly drained Thicket Excavations. They waited for real estate.
Your plumbing task turned into eviction notice delivery. The quarry is now a raider base. Guess who awaits at the bottom? Sully Mathis himself. He’s leveled up. We’re talking Level 30 boss Sully. From handyman to head honcho in 24 hours. What a career change.
Exiting Stage Left (or Right): Dam Escape Routes
Inside the dam, battling pipes and raiders? Wondering how to escape? Fear not, you have options.
On opposite sides of the dam, find two exits. Want luxury? Use the lift. Prefer old school? Use the staircase. Choose your exit strategy but remember which side you picked unless you enjoy wandering through hostile areas.
Thicket Excavations: It starts as a flooded mess. Then, it turns into a raider fortress. It offers an engaging side story. Check it out. Pack RadAway and a good weapon. Don’t forget earplugs for Sully’s boss battle taunts.
