Can Pregnant Sims Age Up in The Sims 4?

Pregnant Sims Aging Rules in The Sims 4

Pregnant Sims continue aging. There is a noticeable issue where pregnant Sims appear to age several days after giving birth, even during a pregnancy in which they seemed not to age. Typically, players expect to see that pregnant Sims do not age until after giving birth, and they do not suddenly age up post-delivery during a pregnancy where they seemed to pause aging.

Pregnant Sims can’t age up or die. This feature is intentionally programmed in the game to prevent potential issues that could arise from aging while pregnant. Notably, this aging pause occurs not just with adult Sims but also with young adult Sims—who may temporarily stop aging during their pregnancy.

  • Players have reported specific instances where their pregnant Sims experienced significant aging delays. For example, one female Sim was younger than her male twin but remained pregnant while he aged up. This phenomenon has been consistent among multiple players across different saves, suggesting it is a regular feature rather than a glitch.
  • There is a suggestion within the community that the game should prevent the option to ‘Try for a Baby’ if a Sim is close to aging up, as this scenario can lead to unusual dynamics between pregnant and non-pregnant Sims.
  • The female Sims seem to temporarily stop aging for a few days when pregnant—a situation observed with various Sims across several saves.

Furthermore, the ‘Allow Pregnancy Aging’ section specifies, ‘If enabled, when a Sim is pregnant, they will not gain the ability to somehow stop aging until they deliver their baby.’

Exploring Mods: Aging Pregnant Sims in The Sims 4

In The Sims 4, pregnant sims will age like any other sim does. This dynamic is facilitated by various mods that enhance the gameplay experience.

  • The ‘Pregnant Aging & Death Plus’ mod introduces new dynamics.
    • It allows pregnant sims to experience aging.
    • Additionally, pregnant sims can die from various causes, including embarrassment, fire, electrocution, and even laughter.
  • Pregnant sims are no longer immune to death.
    • They can celebrate birthdays and have parties for a more immersive experience.
    • However, it’s important to be cautious, as they can die in every way that other sims can.
  • The mod requires the selection of one or more add-ons for optimal functionality.
    • With this, all sims can die off-lot, meaning tombstones will appear on roads or sidewalks.
    • Specifically, children can die from lightning, drowning, hunger, fire, and electrocution, while toddlers can die from hunger and electrocution.
  • This mod was created in response to the need for more realistic gameplay, particularly for generation challenges.
    • It was inspired by other mods that either conflicted or did not meet the needs of players looking for specific death scenarios.
    • As a result, it provides a more immersive and challenging experience in The Sims 4.
  • Other mods such as the Realistic Pregnancy Mod for Sims 4: Triplets and C-Section and MC Woohoo enhance the pregnancy experience, offering varied options.
  • Additionally, the Sims 4 Ultrasound Scan Mod by LittleMsSam offers an interactive way to keep track of pregnancy stages.

Furthermore, there is a feature allowing toddlers, children, and pregnant sims to die when they are not on a community or residential lot. This enhances the realism and depth of the gameplay.

What Happens to Aging When a Sim is Pregnant?

Aging Mechanics for Pregnant Sims in The Sims 4

The MC Pregnancy module includes features that enable other Sim households within neighborhoods to have children and get married. Specifically, the random pregnancy/marriage checks occur at midnight, with the frequency depending on the game speed. If the game is set to a faster speed, these checks run more often, allowing more opportunities for pregnancy or marriage before Sims age out of their ability to do so.

  • If the game is on No Aging, the check runs once a week, and Sims have a completely random chance to have children or get married, regardless of the time until they age up.
  • If a Sim is configured in CAS to never ‘Get others pregnant’ or ‘Become Pregnant,’ they will not experience pregnancy. Similarly, if a Sim is set only to ‘Get others pregnant,’ they themselves will not become pregnant.

When it comes to the chances of having offspring:

  • With a maximum offspring setting of 1, there is a 100% chance the Sim will have one child.
  • With a maximum offspring setting of 2, there is a 90% chance of having one child and a 10% chance of twins.

In The Sims 4, pregnant characters are often made immortal. However, they will continue to age and are still susceptible to various deaths, similar to non-pregnant Sims. This indicates that even during pregnancy, aging does not halt, and pregnant Sims face the same risks as others.

Moreover, pregnancy mods specifically designed for The Sims 4 can significantly customize the pregnancy experience. These mods introduce realistic symptoms, diverse childbirth options, and even allow for carrying multiple babies, enhancing the gameplay experience.

Regarding the aging mechanics during pregnancy:

  • Pregnant Sims will age like any other Sims. By default, the “Allow Pregnancy Aging” setting is disabled, meaning that when a Sim is pregnant, they will not stop aging until they deliver their baby.
  • However, if you enable this option, pregnant Sims will continue to age.

In summary, when a Sim is pregnant, they cannot halt their aging until after delivery. The pregnancy checks continue based on the game settings, affecting their overall aging and marriage opportunities.
