Navigating the Mystical Walls of Teyvat: Your Ultimate Guide to Barriers in Genshin Impact

Teyvat, the world of Genshin Impact, is about exploration and puzzles. Barriers are common roadblocks. These walls of energy or elemental force block your path to loot and quests. It can be frustrating. But don’t worry! This guide helps you understand and tackle barriers in Genshin Impact.

Decoding the Walls: Types of Barriers and Takedown Tactics

Barriers in Genshin Impact aren’t random; they are designed puzzles. Each type needs a specific approach and understanding of game mechanics. Let’s explore the common ones.

Thunder Barriers: Purple Haze of Puzzle

Thunder Barriers are bright purple walls of Inazuma. They keep you out. To cross these electric walls, get an Electrogranum. It’s your electric passkey.

Electrograna appear from Thunder Sakura Boughs, glowing trees in Inazuma. Activating a Bough gives you an Electrogranum, swirling with energy. With this, Thunder Barriers disappear. Just be quick; the effect fades fast on the other side.

Some Boughs might not show their powers. They can be stubborn. Usually, this means a mini-puzzle is nearby. You might need to fight hilichurls or solve an environmental riddle. Once resolved, the Bough will give the Electrogranum.

For stubborn Thunder Barriers during Sakura Cleansing quests, use the Memento Lens. This gadget from the “Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual” quest allows interaction with Kitsune statues. Scanning statues with it can deactivate barriers. Poof, gone!

If you’re game, try the Zhongli maneuver. The Geo Archon can sometimes bypass barriers by climbing strategically. It’s a risky method but it can work in certain situations.

Anemo (Wind) Barriers: Breezy Blockades

If purple is Inazuma, then swirling wind defines Mondstadt. Anemo Barriers are columns of swirling wind. They guard chests and Elemental Monuments, acting as nature’s security. The answer? Anemo characters. Use Venti, Jean, or Sucrose.

Unleashing their Anemo powers near a barrier makes it vanish like mist. A simple Elemental Skill or Burst clears the way. Wind clearing wind is poetic.

Accessing treasures inside Anemo Barriers can require entering from above. Think less like walls, more like windy tubes. Glide down from a high point. Anemograna offer updrafts. Characters with height-boosting talents can also help. Think vertically.

Electro Shields: Shockingly Resistant, Until…

Electro Shields block progress in combat. These electric defenses make enemies tough. The key to breaking them? Cryo. Ice is Electro’s weakness. Cryo attacks work wonders on these shields. Use Kaeya, Chongyun, Ganyu, or Ayaka.

Additionally, consider Overload. This elemental reaction uses Electro and Pyro together. It’s great against shields. The Traveler’s handbook suggests experimenting to see what works best. Sometimes a controlled explosion is ideal.

Barrier Hotspots: Locations and Quests You Need to Know

Barriers are strategically located throughout Teyvat. Knowing where to find them can save you hassle. Let’s explore prominent barrier hotspots.

Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual: Barrier Breakdown

This questline in Inazuma features many barriers protecting shrines and puzzles. One key moment involves a barrier in a cave. Interact with the first shrine pillar upon entering the cave. It starts the puzzle.

After that, you must submit the ward received from Ioroi. This ward is the puzzle’s key to dismantling the barrier. No ward means no progress. Thus, follow the quest steps carefully.

Stormterror Lair: Dragon’s Den Defense

Entering Stormterror’s Lair is crucial in Genshin Impact’s early game. It’s not welcoming. To enter, you must break three seals. These are magical seals, not regular barriers, requiring exploration and puzzle-solving.

Each seal relates to constellation pieces known as Light Actuators. You must locate these actuators: one to the east, one to the north, one to the west of the lair. Collecting them breaks the seals, allowing entry deeper into the lair. It resembles a scavenger hunt.

Finding your way through Stormterror’s Lair involves wind mechanics. When approaching the tower, you’ll see wind domes blocking the path. Instead of forcing a way through, explore other routes. Go right around the second wind dome until you see the Archon statue of the Seven. A wind current by the statue helps you glide over the barrier into the tower.

Kamisato Estate Barrier: Beachfront Blockade

This barrier relates to the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual. After completing “Abandoned Shrine,” Kazari assigns you more barrier tasks. Head to the beachy area northeast of Kamisato Estate for this challenge. VG247 has detailed help if needed.

Araumi Barrier: Towering Trouble

Araumi shows another “Destroy the Barrier” puzzle from the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual. Locate the stone tower ruin in Araumi. The puzzle needs you to light up Electro mechanisms surrounding the tower. Activate all to unlock and dismantle the barrier inside.

Kannazuka Barrier: Tales of Tatarasuna

The Kannazuka barrier is different. It connects to the world quest “Tatara Tales.” Start this quest by talking to Toranosuke and Miyuki at the Kujou Encampment, located west of the waypoint teleporter in Kannazuka. GameRant has more to assist.

Here’s a guide to stop the Tatarasuna thunderstorm. It is part of this questline and relates to removing barriers in the region.

Starglow Cavern Barrier: Ice Crystal Cage

In Starglow Cavern, barriers are simple. They relate to challenges. Complete the challenge, and the barrier around the ice crystal disappears. It’s not complex. Just good old combat or timed trials.

Sacrificial Offering Quest Barrier: Cave Conundrum

During the “Sacrificial Offering” quest, a final barrier in a cave near the shrines appears. You need a key – the Rust Worn Key. To find this key, finish the previous quest, “A Strange Story in Konda.”Sportskeeda has a guide for this quest, including solutions for barriers.

Legendary “Color” Quest Barrier: Graffiti Gone Wild

Less frequent, but noteworthy, barriers appear in some world quests, like the “Color” quest series. They may require Elemental Sight on a wall to reveal graffiti. After that, use a skill, like theIktomisaurus skill, from a gadget or character ability related to the quest to remove the barrier. These puzzles are often unique to quests, so listen to quest dialogues and hints.

Barrier-Busting Arsenal: Mechanics and Must-Have Items

Besides elemental abilities, Genshin Impact provides specific items and mechanics for barriers. Let’s enhance your inventory knowledge.

Electrogranum: Your Electric Ally

You’ve met the Electrogranum. Summoned from Thunder Sakura Boughs in Inazuma, it helps you bypass Thunder Barriers. Remember to use the Boughs for electric passage.

Memento Lens: Kitsune Statue Scanner

The Memento Lens is obtained during the “Sacrificial Offering” quest. Completing “A Strange Story in Konda” is necessary first. It is essential for interacting with Kitsune statues and disabling certain barriers during the Sakura Cleansing Ritual.

Rust Worn Key: Cave Gate Opener

You find the Rust Worn Key by completing “A Strange Story in Konda.” This key unlocks the final barrier in the “Sacrificial Offering” quest. Quest progression is vital for acquiring this key.

Sacred Sakura’s Favor: Inazuma’s Blessing

Sacred Sakura’s Favor is an offering system in Inazuma. You level it using Electro Sigils. It isn’t directly for barrier-busting, but leveling it unlocks various rewards and benefits. This makes navigating barriers smoother overall.

Pro Tips and Barrier Brainwaves: General Guidance

Before you rush off to tackle barriers in Teyvat, a few tips can be invaluable.

Inazuma Access: Sneaking In (Not Really)

Officially, reaching Inazuma requires progress through the main story. However, there is a co-op trick. Joining another player’s world who is in Inazuma can teleport you there early. Be cautious. Story progress may be limited if you haven’t officially unlocked the region. Glitches get patched too.

Electro Sigils: Inazuma’s Currency of Exploration

Electro Sigils are gained by exploring Inazuma. Open chests, complete side quests, and thoroughly explore. Rarer chests give more sigils. Your adventurous spirit will be rewarded.

Stormterror Lair Revisited: Seal Summary

A reminder: Entry to Stormterror’s Lair needs breaking three seals. Each seal requires collecting Light Actuators. Don’t skip the scavenger hunt before facing the dragon.

Element Counters: Shield Smashing 101

For Electro Shields, Cryo attacks are vital. Anemo alone does not break shields well. Combined with other elements, it can help spread reactions and support shield breaking. Experiment with combinations; it’s part of the fun!

Ruin Serpent Unlock: Chasm Crawling

Accessing the Ruin Serpent boss requires progress through “The Chasm” world quests. Specifically, quests lead to the underground area where this boss lies. Quest completion is vital for serpent-seeking.

Destroy the Barrier Puzzle Solutions: Quick Cheat Sheet

For specific “Destroy the Barrier” puzzles, here are quick solutions:

  • A Strange Story in Konda Barrier: Start from the shrine’s right and go around. Set the Sakura leaves per lantern to 2-3-5-4.
  • Sacrificial Offering Barrier: Put two Sakura leaves on the middle lantern. Then put three Sakura leaves on each corner lantern (3×3 on all sides).

This guide equips you to tackle any barrier Teyvat presents. Go forth, explore, and break those magical walls confidently with a dash of wit!
