Unlocking Bennett’s Buff: Your Guide to Base Attack in Genshin Impact

Ever noticed how some Genshin Impact characters hit like trucks, while others barely scratch Hilichurls? Understanding “Base Attack” is key. It seems basic, but mastering it enhances your gameplay, especially with characters like the popular Bennett.

What IS Base Attack?

Let’s clarify. Base Attack is the main attack stat for your character. It works like raw horsepower under the hood. It combines two essential numbers: your character’s Attack stat and the weapon’s main Attack stat. Simple enough, right?

Why Care About Base Attack?

It’s just a number, you say? It actually matters quite a bit, especially for some characters. Take Bennett, the adventurous Pyro support. His Elemental Burst offers a massive ATK buff. This buff boosts damage for those in its fiery circle. It scales directly from Bennett’s Base Attack.

Forget stacking ATK% or Flat ATK on his artifacts for better buffs. Those stats are useless for his buff strength. Focus solely on his Base Attack.

To maximize Bennett’s buff, your task is clear: increase his Base Attack. Leveling Bennett raises his base stats naturally. However, his weapon plays a crucial role.

You need a sword with a high Base Attack stat. Consider Aquila Favonia or Mistsplitter Reforged if you have Primogems to spare. Craftable options like Prototype Rancour or event weapons like Alley Flash also work well. Don’t forget Sapwood Blade; it has high Base ATK among 4-stars and Energy Recharge as a bonus stat, fitting for buffing Bennett.

Ever noticed how some characters feel weaker initially? This often relates to their Base Attack. Raiden Shogun has solid Base Attack, adding to her powerful bursts. In contrast, Hu Tao has one of the lowest Base Attacks, at just 106! Her kit compensates by scaling with HP instead.

Artifacts: Gearing Up for Attack

Artifacts are like your character’s clothing and accessories in Genshin Impact. They do more than look good; they offer major stat boosts. Each artifact has a primary stat (the main one) and up to four substats (smaller bonuses that can drastically affect performance). You can discover more about stats in Genshin Impact at this helpful guide.

ATK% vs. Flat ATK: The Percentage Play

When checking artifact stats, you often come across ATK% and Flat ATK. New players might favor Flat ATK numbers, but experienced players know ATK% reigns supreme. Why is that? Because ATK% scales with your Base Attack. Higher levels mean more valuable percentage increases compared to fixed bonuses.

Main Stats and Substats for Bennett: Focusing on Functionality

Bennett’s buff relies on Base Attack, while his healing scales with Max HP. Don’t chase HP main stats for him, as a Flower of Life artifact gives ample HP boosts. Plus, leveling Bennett increases his HP too. Focus on Energy Recharge and Base Attack (via weapons).

Best Artifact Sets for Bennett: Noblesse Oblige is King

For artifact sets for Bennett, decent options include Emblem of Severed Fate for more Energy Recharge or Crimson Witch of Flames for extra damage. The best set is the 4-piece Noblesse Oblige. It boosts Bennett’s Burst damage and grants a team-wide ATK buff after using his Burst.

Quick Tip: Don’t Obsess Over Perfection

Artifact farming can be overwhelming. Here’s a tip: if an artifact drops with 3-5 “good” substat options (like Energy Recharge, Crit Rate, Crit DMG, ATK%, HP%), keep it! Don’t fall into artifact hell grinding for “perfect” substats early on. Progress is better than perfection.

Bennett: A Deep Dive into Buffing and Building

Let’s examine Bennett and his scaling closely. Recall this: Bennett’s ATK buff from his Burst scales only with his Base Attack. This point is crucial. ATK%? Flat ATK? They don’t impact his buff strength. Level Bennett and equip him with a high Base Attack sword; that’s the key.

The ATK buff lasts about 2 seconds per hit within his burst field. Once applied, the buff is fixed. Even if Bennett’s stats change during this time, the buff stays constant. It’s locked in when activated.

Healing? Focus on HP

While the buff focuses on Base Attack, Bennett’s healing depends on his Max HP. So, HP matters for healing output but not for buffs. Again, using a Flower artifact helps with this.

Energy Recharge: Avoiding Cooldown Issues

Bennett’s Burst ensures healing and a big ATK boost. Therefore, Energy Recharge (ER) is vital for Bennett. Aim for at least 200% ER if using him as support or sub-DPS. Players may go higher for constant Burst availability. Equip an Energy Recharge sands artifact and consider ER substats alongside weapons like Sapwood Blade or Favonius Sword.

Weapon Choices: Prioritize Base Attack

Let’s revisit weapons. To maximize Bennett’s buff, find swords with high Base Attack. Aquila Favonia is a top choice due to its high Base Attack. Alley Flash, often obtained through events, provides excellent Base Attack for a 4-star weapon. Sapwood Blade combines Base Attack with ER nicely. If you’re just starting, use Prototype Rancour. Talent Leveling: Maximize the Burst

Your focus when leveling Bennett’s talents should be his Elemental Burst. Raise it as high as possible since this boosts the ATK buff percentage. His Elemental Skill? You can mostly ignore unless you want additional damage.

Constellations: C1 is Best, C6 – Think Carefully

Bennett’s constellations significantly enhance his abilities. C1 is the best. It removes the HP restriction on his ATK buff and increases its strength; this change is huge.

However, C6 is a double-edged sword. It infuses Bennett’s Burst field with Pyro, boosting Pyro DPS character damage significantly. But it may disrupt certain team compositions relying on Physical DPS like Eula or special elemental reactions like Superconduct. If your main DPS is Pyro, C6 Bennett could be great. If not, evaluate wisely before unlocking it for team flexibility.

Base Attack Beyond Bennett: A Quick Look at Others

Bennett highlights Base Attack importance, but many characters benefit:

  • Hu Tao: Despite her low Base Attack…
  • Low Base Attack makes her an ATK scaler due to talent multipliers. Her HP-to-ATK conversion means that building HP gives more damage than focusing on ATK stats.
  • Xiao: His damage relies on ATK, Crit Rate, Crit DMG, and DMG Bonus. A high Base Attack weapon boosts his plunge attack damage.
  • Fischl: Her damage, including Oz’s attacks, scales with Base Attack and talent levels. Weapons with high Base Attack enhance her DPS output.

When to Farm Artifacts: Patience Pays Off

Resin is vital in Genshin Impact. It helps claim rewards from Domains and bosses. To maximize Resin efficiency in artifact farming, you should wait until Adventure Rank 45. AR 45 unlocks the highest artifact domains. This guarantees a 5-star artifact drop per run. Before AR 45, the drop rates for 5-star artifacts are low. Farming then is less efficient. For further information on artifact farming efficiency, check this guide on waiting until AR 45.

So, this is a deep dive into Base Attack and its role in Genshin Impact, especially for support powerhouse, Bennett. Understanding Base Attack is key to optimizing characters and unleashing their potential. Level up those weapons and buff towards victory!
